Overview of peroxisomal β-oxidation reactions. The basic steps of the peroxisomal β-oxidation sequence are shown. Depending on the chain length, substituents, especially the presence of a 2-methyl group, and structure of the acyl-chain of the CoA esters, the involved enzymes will differ.
