Minigenome assay. BHK-T7 cells that expressed T7 polymerase were transfected as described for Fig. 5, and 24 h after transfection, the cells were lysed and subjected to luciferase assay. Nmut1 also was used as the negative control. Rightmost lanes (−N) show control transfectants from which N expression plasmid was omitted. The result was expressed as the relative luciferase activity (± standard deviations) (−N = 1) of triplicate samples.
