(B) HeLa cells expressing the HIV-2 protease were transfected with the N-RNA-pA, N-RNA-3′UTR, and EMCV-RLuc-pA RNAs depicted in Fig. 1. (A and B) Mock cells correspond to cells that do not express the viral protease yet were also transfected with the different RNAs. FLuc activity of the mock transfections was arbitrarily set to 1 (±SD). Values are the means ± SD of results from three independent experiments, each conducted in triplicate.
