Expression profile of ESAG9-K9 during differentiation to procyclic forms. (A) ESAG9 expression during stumpy–procyclic form differentiation. Stumpy forms of T. brucei EATRO 2340 were induced to differentiate to procyclic forms. Analysis of the Coomassie Blue stained gel shows that the VSG runs at approximately 50 kDa and is lost between 3 and 6 hours. The same protein samples were probed with anti-peptide antibody to ESAG9-K9 and trypanosome α-tubulin. (B) Cells harvested 6 hours after the initiation of differentiation and probed with antibody to ESAG9-K9 and EP procyclin (to demonstrate differentiation). A DAPI stained image of the same cell is also shown.
