Characterization of intracranial xenografts of control-, PTEN-, SPARC-, and SPARC and PTEN-expressing cells lines. Cells (400 000 in 5 µL) were intracranially implanted into nude rat brains and allowed to grow for 7 days. Brains were harvested, formalin-fixed, and paraffin-embedded. Tumor xenograft sections were H&E stained and immunohistochemically stained for human mitochondrial marker, SPARC, PTEN, the proliferation marker Ki-67, and the blood vessel marker Factor VIII. Magnifications as indicated. Representative images of n = 6 animals/group.
