A typical case, where the ischemic lesion areas can not distinguished from ventricle in T2 maps (a). An SWI image (b) was used to demarcate the edge of the ventricle, as indicated by red arrows. T2 maps at 6 weeks after stroke from a representative EPO-treated rat (c) and a control rat (d) demonstrated that the ipsilateral ventricle expansion was reduced in the treated rat relative to the control one, lesion areas indicated by red borders were identified by T2 values.
