Table 2.

Number of hermits, number of words in the largest island, number of words in the second largest island, and mean island size for each of the lexicons.

Network Component WLO CVP WIC HML2to5 HML
Hermits 5,606 4,917 4,724 1,145 10,521
Largest island 1,752 2,223 2,439 6,094 6,501
2nd largest island 14 7 6 29 53
Mean island size 2.35 2.28 2.34 2.73 2.52

Note. Mean island size is the mean number of words in each island, excluding the largest island in the lexicon and excluding hermits. WLO = word length only; CVP = consonant–vowel pattern; WIC = word-initial consonant cluster; HML2to5 = a mini- or sublexicon that is the result of extracting all words two to five segments in length from the HML and analyzing the network structure formed by their neighbor pairs.
