Effect of NGF inhibition on weight gain. After 5 days of PAO1 infection, average body weight gain was significantly lower in weanling rats compared with noninfected controls. In contrast, the weight gain measured in PAO1-infected rats treated with either the NGF-neutralizing antibody or with the specific receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor K252a was not different from controls.
