(B) Selection of genes whose expression correlates (r ≥ 0.40) with MCT8 expression across all brain regions (in total 1172 genes) are selected. (C) The 1172 selected genes shown in (B) are intersected with the 2159 DE genes in fibroblasts from MCT8 patients (obtained from Fig. 1A). The intersection results in 102 genes which are common to both selections. (D) Calculation of the representation of 1172 genes among the 2159 DE genes in fibroblasts from MCT8 patients indicates a strong and significant over-representation. The probe set IDs and gene symbols are shown for the 102 genes common to both selections and the degree of correlation with MCT8 in brain (data set 1) is indicated.
