Note: PHLF = Physical Health Latent Factor; MHLF = Mental Health Latent Factor.

All zero factor loadings were fixed to be zero in the model identification process. All non-zero factor loadings were significantly different from zero (p<.0001), except the loading of the general health item on the MHLF for the stroke history group.

The correlation between PHLF and MHLF was .54 (p<.0001) in the total sample, .59 (p<.0001) in the stroke history group, and .53 (p<.0001) in the non-stroke history group.

Items with negative factor loadings represent those SF-12 questions on which higher scores indicated poorer health status whereas items with positive factor loadings represent the SF-12 questions on which higher scores reflected better health.
