The hash mark labels the 50% mark, which represents no preference for an object (object preference  =  novel object interaction/total object interaction). DKO mice show no preference for the novel object when tested 90 min after training (n = 8, object preference is not significantly different than 50%, p>0.05); however, replacing AC8 in the forebrain of DKO mice is sufficient to maintain memory (n = 10/genotype, *1-sample t-test object preference is greater than 50%, p≤0.05).
