(A) The amount of IL-1β secreted from PBMCs exposed to control Day 42 non-leukoreduced PRBC supernatant (D42 NLR) and Day 42 leukoreduced PRBC supernatant (D42 LR) is shown as a scatter plot with the mean represented as a bar. D42 LR PRBC supernatant significantly decreased IL-1β secretion versus D42 NLR supernatant (*P < 0.05 vs. D42 NLR group; n = 16 for D42 NLR, n = 12 for D42 LR). D42 LR supernatant exposure resulted in nonsignificant reductions in (B) TNF-α and (C) IL-6 secretion. (D) IL-10 levels were not altered.
