The distance between the wound edges (lateral wound width) in subcutaneous tissue (A), muscle tissue (B) and sternum bone (C), measured in transverse magnetic resonance images in sternotomized pigs before (0 mmHg) and after the application of negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) at -75, -125 and -175 mmHg. Results are presented as mean values ± S.E.M. Statistical comparison was performed using Student's paired t-test.
