Mean (± SEM) gray level value of n=10 plaques or adjacent tissue ROIs per region measured in 8-bit gray scale images of DAB-enhanced Prussian blue stained histological sections from a 24-month old APP/PS1 or age-matched WT mouse. Lower gray level value indicates darker staining and relatively higher iron content.
