^aThe marked increase in latent tuberculosis (TB) cases detected by the final algorithm between 1999 and 2002 coincides with former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/American Thoracic Society guidelines for the treatment of latent TB that included an option for two-month therapy with rifampin/pyrazinamide. The data from 2006 are only reported through May.
