In all induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cell lines, the Nkx2.5, GATA4, and nestin genes were expressed continually throughout the 4-week culture, and the brachyury, HNF4, AFP, and Sox1 genes were partially expressed in several iPS cell lines, showing that all iPS cells had the developmental potential to give rise to differentiated derivatives of all three primary germ layers.
