Effect of glyoxal (GO) (panel a) and glycolaldehyde (GA) (panel b) on GLUCOLD analogue formation. Increased concentrations of GO (a) and GA (b) (0; 0.1; 0.5 and 1.0 mM) were initially added to the incubation mixture of ε-amino caproic acid (100 mM) and glucose (500 mM) in phosphate buffer (100 mM with 0.02% sodium azide and 0.1 mM DTPA). Incubations were performed at 37°C. Data are expressed as mean ± SD (n = 3)
