Primers specific to the xyn10A gene (5′-CAAAGGAAAGATCTGGCAATG-3′ and 5′-TGAGCATCCCGTCGTAGTAGT-3′) were used to amplify a 485-bp product using the Qiagen OneStep RT-PCR kit. Expression of the housekeeping gyrB (Acel_0005) gene was used to normalize for the RNA (data not shown). Identical results were obtained in two independent experiments; data from one experiment are presented.
