Vps21p-mediated trafficking is of greater significance to pathogenesis than Aps3p-mediated trafficking. Five BALB/c mice were inoculated intravenously with approximately 5 × 105 cells of each C. albicans strain. Survival curves were plotted for a 28-day period. Note that the survival curves of vps21Δ/Δ, aps3Δ/Δ vps21Δ/Δ, and aps3Δ/Δ vps21Δ/Δ plus APS3 strains overlap. A repeat experiment was performed with three additional mice per strain, with similar results.
