GOBASE’s web-based expert correction form. Potential erroneous data are presented to the expert under the following categories: missing gene name; overlapping genes; duplicated genes; etc. The expert form permits graphical display of the genetic elements of a particular sequence (upper part of the page) and access to related entities, such as INTRON, EXON (lower part of the page). The expert selects a certain feature (‘Fkey’) with the ‘Select’ button, modifies its attributes such as location (‘From’, ‘To’, ‘Strand’), trans-splicing (‘Transp.’), completeness (‘Partial’), gene name (‘Gene name’; in a separate box, in the middle of the page), adds an expert note (‘Expert notes’) for display to the public, or deletes the feature (‘Delete’). After entering the new values, they are submitted by clicking on ‘Update feature info’ or ‘Update feature name’ to the database back-end for modification of the corresponding tables.
