Full-length RrgA clades I and II bind extracellular matrix components in vitro. Different doses of recombinant RrgA clades I and II, along with RrgA Asp444Ala, were incubated with purified fibronectin (top), laminin (middle), and collagen I (bottom); the pilus backbone, RrgB, was used as a negative control. Binding was quantified by ELISA at an absorbance of 405 nm. The points represent the means (the error bars indicate the standard deviations of the means) of measurements made in triplicate.
