FIG. 4.

Antibody responses to PyMIF are boosted upon repeated P. yoelii infection. BALB/cByJ mice (n = 5) were infected with 1 × 105 P. yoelii 17X pRBCs. Primary infection sera were collected 30 days postinfection, approximately 1 week following the clearance of blood-stage parasites. A second group of BALB/cByJ mice (n = 5) was infected as described above with 1 × 105 P. yoelii 17X pRBCs. Following the clearance of the primary infection, these mice were rechallenged twice with 1 × 107 P. yoelii 17X pRBCs. Tertiary infection sera were collected 1 week following the clearance of the third P. yoelii challenge infection. Anti-PyMIF antibodies present in primary (gray) and tertiary (black) infection sera were measured by ELISA using rPyMIF-coated plates. Plots depict PyMIF-specific antibody responses for individual mice in both groups.
