U937 cells underwent a freezing - thawing cycle as described in Materials and Methods. The percentage of early apoptotic (Annexin V positive and PI negative) cells was tested at appropriate time points after thawing. Values are average ± SD of 2-3 experiments (500-1000 individual cells). The range of results obtained for the different experiments (as percentages) is presented in brackets. *Untreated U937 cells, which did not undergo FTC, were evaluated at the corresponding time points.
