Seventeen animals were recorded by continuous hippocampal depth electrode video-EEG (top group) and 11 animals were recorded by intermittent epidural screw electrode video-EEG (bottom group). Seizure counts are given and shown in color. Note the presence of an initial cluster of very frequent seizures in many animals. Subsequent clusters of seizures occurred throughout the monitoring period, which extended as far as 82 days for one of the animals. The histopathological classification into Grades I to IV is described in detail in the legend to Fig. 6. No tissue was available for histology from animals 050207C and 050207D (indicated by asterisks).
