Distribution of rats and collected data for the experimental and contralateral limbs of animals in the Control, Sham and Loaded groups. For Engaged trials, the attached varus loading device (VLD) was engaged which applied a compressive overload to the medial compartment of the knee. For Disengaged trials, the attached VLD was disengaged so that no overload was applied. Note that if there is no binding in the device, there should be no differences between having the VLD engaged or disengaged for the Sham group since there is no additional loading applied.
