Each of the 6 FGF proteins used in this study stimulate tubulogenesis in mouse heart explants (all increases are statistically significant (ρ ≤ 0.01). Soluble FGFR1-DN (dominant negative) reduces tube formation to 40% of control (* *, ρ ≤ 0.01). Inverted microscope images (A, B, C) illustrate vascular tubes projecting from the surface of explants.
