Note that the residual brain parenchymal tissue is largely negative for nuclear and cytoplasmic immunoreactivities. There are some cells that have the morphologic features of reactive astrocytes (arrow) and also isolated positive nuclei (arrow head) without accompanying cytoplasmic immunoreactivity.
