Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signalling pathway was associated with hepatic protection provided by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) preconditioning. TLR4-mutant mice (C3H/HeJ) and wild-type mice for TLR4-mutant (C3H/HeN) were subjected to ischaemic procedures for 90 min with or without LPS pretreatment. After 6 h of reperfusion, both strains of mice were killed and liver specimens were obtained.
