Sections from the base of the fifth pereiopod of DDW- (A) and Cq-IAG dsRNA-injected (B) intersex animals were hematoxylin- and eosin-stained. High magnification of the androgenic gland (AG) of control intersex animal (C) apparently shows smaller cells than those observed in the silenced intersex animals (D), where a hypertrophied gland comprising of apparently larger cells with highly significant larger nuclei (Mann Whitney U test, Z = 4.438, P<0.001).
