Histological findings of colon in mice. (a) The section of the colon from non-treated mice without dextran sulphate sodium (DSS) treatment shows normal crypts and no inflammatory infiltrate. (b) The sections of saline-treated mice and (c) pCAGGS-treated mice show crypt loss, destruction of the epithelial cells and severe inflammatory infiltrate at 7 days after DSS treatment. (d) Migration inhibitory factor (MIF)/tetanus toxoid (TTX)-vaccinated mice show no crypt damage with slight infiltration of inflammatory cells at 7 days after DSS treatment.
