Expression of keratins in transgenic mice. Skin from P7 wild-type controls and K14-Cre/caBmprIB mice were assayed for the expression of K14 (a, b), K10 (c, d), and K6 (e, f). Whereas K14 and K10 exhibited comparable expression levels and patterns in both wild-type and transgenic samples, K6 expression was ectopically activated in the basal layer of the transgenic skin.
