Cross-linking analysis of interactions between P-ExeA substitution mutation derivatives and peptidoglycan fragments. P-ExeA wild-type protein and substitution mutation derivatives were incubated with mutanolysin-digested peptidoglycan fragments and cross-linked with 0 to 2 mM DTSSP. The wild-type protein was also cross-linked in the absence of peptidoglycan (PG) as a control. The cross-linked samples were applied to SDS-PAGE gels and immunoblotted with ExeA antiserum. The apparent dimers are indicated.
