FIGURE 7. — Mutational analysis of Pss1 promoter in astrocytes. Astrocytes were co-transfected with the β-galactosidase expression vector, pSV-β-Gal, or pGL3-Basic (pGL3b(−)), pGL3-Basic containing mouse wild-type −398/+197-bp sequence (WT), or the −398/+197-bp sequence mutated in Sp, Myc, and/or E47/Tal1 elements. Luciferase activity (relative luciferase units, RLU) was measured 48 h after transfection and normalized to β-galactosidase. Data are mean ± S.D. of three independent transfections/construct. Three experiments were performed with similar results. *, p < 0.001; **, p < 0.01; ***, p < 0.02 versus WT.
