The tube starting angle was 0° (12 o’clock) for all scans. The coronal plane was taken about half-way in between the anterior and posterior surfaces of each patient. The computer model of each patient with organs shown on a gray scale was overlaid with a semitransparent colored image of the dose distribution. The noise in the dose distribution is reflective of the limited number of photos used in the simulations. As organ dose was an average over the entire organ volume, the uncertainty associated with organ dose was less than 1% for all organs in the scan coverage and less than 3% for other organs (see Sec. 2C).
