The Kaplan-Meier actuarial survival of 3,394 patients (A) that received 4, 188 liver grafts (B) during the 30-year history of the program at the Universities of Colorado (1963–1980) and Pittsburgh (1981–1993). The dates of case accrual from bottom to top curves were 1963–1979 (Group I), 1980–1987 (Group II), 1987–1989 (Group III), and 1989–1993 (Group IV). The difference in survival between Group III (CyA) and Group IV (FK506) was statistically signficant (p<0.001) (From Todo S, Fung J, Starzl TE, et al.
