Location of the ΔF1388 mutation and the RKR ER-retention signals in SUR1 and Kir6.2. The topology of SUR1 shown is by Tusnady et al. (25). The ΔF1388 mutation is in the NBF2. The RKR motif in SUR1 is in a cytoplasmic segment right before the first nucleotide binding fold (NBF1). The RKR motif in Kir6.2 is near the C terminus (18).
