Purified plasma vWF (left) or pooled human plasma (right) were incubated with NAC at 37°C for either 30 minutes (purified vWF) or 1 hour (plasma), at which time the reactions were stopped by the addition of NEM to alkylate the residual NAC. vWF multimers were then examined by electrophoresis on a 1% agarose gel followed by immunoblotting. NAC reduced vWF multimer size in a concentration-dependent manner.
