The IC₅₀s of Mz against subtype 4 isolates were found to be significantly lower than those of subtype 7 isolates (P < 0.01). Mz induced 50% inhibition of subtype 7 isolate B cultures at a concentration (conc.) of 32.5 ± 3.4 μg/ml, whereas isolate E cultures exhibited only minimal inhibition even at concentrations as high as 100 μg/ml.
