^a Concentration in supernatants from monocyte-derived matured dendritic cell cultures was quantified by Luminex and rounded to 0.1, 0.5, 1, and 5 ng/ml. Individual cytokines were tested for their ability to regulate macroautophagy in skeletal myocytes with and without blockade of lysosomal proteolysis by chloroquine treatment. Each cytokine was tested at least three times at a concentration quantified in stimulatory DC-derived supernatant as well as in a 1 log higher concentration. MCP-1 was also found to be enriched in DC-derived cultures but was not tested for autophagy induction. As a classical proinflammatory cytokine, IFN-γ was additionally tested at concentrations of 0.1 and 1 ng/ml.
