Expression of five human genes rescues the growth impairment of hgt1-Δ cells in sulfur-deficient medium in the presence of 500 μM or 750 μM GSH as the sole sulfur source. Cells were grown overnight at 30°C in minimal selective medium. Subsequently, they were washed and inoculated at a cell density (expressed as OD₆₀₀) of 0.01 in sulfur-deficient medium supplemented with either 500 or 750 μM GSH.
