Expression of five human genes increases the intracellular total glutathione concentration in hgt1-Δ cells. Cells were grown overnight at 30°C in minimal selective medium. Subsequently they were washed and innoculated at a cell density (expressed as OD₆₀₀) of 0.01 in sulfur-deficient medium supplemented with 750 μM GSH at 30°C for 48 h. Collected cells were lysed and intracellular total glutathione content was measured. Values are given as means ± SEM, N=3. BD = below detection limit.
