(a) A number of bars, varying randomly from zero to four, were presented at random positions around saccadic target, and the subject reported how many she saw. Open symbols refer to trials when there were four bars present, triangles to trials with one bar and filled circles to catch trials with none. Zero and one were reported correctly, but four bars were all compressed together as one when presented near saccadic onset. (b) Perceived duration as a function of presentation time, relative to saccadic onset. The stimulus pair were separated by 100 ms, but perceived as separated by 50 ms when presented near saccadic onset.
