Effect of β-arrestin 2 in physical stress-induced splenocyte reduction. a Physical restraint decreased the expression of β-arrestin 2. Wild-type C57BL/6J (WT) mice at 7 weeks of age were stressed for 12 h. Total RNA was isolated from the spleen and analyzed for β-arrestin 2 expression by real-time quantitative RTPCR. b WT mice were subjected to a 12-hour physical restraint daily for 2 days. The expression of β-arrestin 2 was determined by Western blot analysis. c β-Arrestin 2 knockout mice (β-arrestin 2 KO) and WT mice aged 6–7 weeks were subjected to a 12-hour physical restraint daily for 2 days. Total splenocytes were counted. ∗ p < 0.01 vs. unstressed control, ∗∗ p < 0.01 vs. stressed WT. Means and SE were calculated from 7 mice/group.
