The GUVs were preincubated for 15 min with or without caspase inhibitors and then analyzed by flow cytometry. The fluorescent marker FITC-VAD-fmk (500 nM) was added on-line and measurements were made immediately. All caspase inhibitors and the anti-apoptotic family member Bcl-XLΔCt (250 nm) were pre-incubated with the samples for 30 min before addition of FITC-VAD-fmk.
