Control G- and C-banding of Peromyscus eremicus chromosomes are shown on the left column. The other columns show the bands produced by the seven restriction endonucleases, before and after C-banding. The letters (a-g) represent the C-bands according to their order of appearance in each chromosome. Arrowheads indicate C-positive heterochromatin bands only revealed by previous RE treatment. Asterisks indicate extra C-bands produced by the splitting of a control C- band after endonuclease digestion+C-banding.
