Increased food intake (A; units are grams per day per mouse), body weight (B), and adiposity (C) in RIP-Cre/STAT3lox/lox mice. Male RIP-Cre/STAT3lox/lox mice and control littermates were housed in single cages with free access to food and water. Food intake and body weight were measured daily. Body weight (B) and body fat (C) of mice at 1 and 7 months are shown. In all cases, the number of mice ranged from six to eight. WT, wild-type STAT3lox/lox mice; KO, RIP-Cre/STAT3lox/lox mice. *, P < 0.05; **, P < 0.01. Similar results were observed in female mice.
