Effect of apelin-13 and gp91ds-tat on neuronal NAD(P)H oxidase activity. Neuronal cultures were pretreated with control (Con, PBS), gp91ds-tat (GP, 5 μM), or scrambled gp91ds (Scra, 5 μM) for 10 min before treatment with apelin-13 (APLN, 100 nM). Neurons were collected, and NAD(P)H oxidase activity was measured and expressed as mean light emission (count per milligram of protein per minute). Data are mean ± S.E.
