Effect of regulated EPO expression on diabetic neuropathy. (a) Schematic of treatment protocol. Diabetes was induced by injection of streptozotocin (STZ). Two weeks later vHrtEPO was inoculated subcutaneously in both hind feet. Doxycycline (DOX) was administered by gavage 4 days out of 7 (arrows) every week for 4 weeks.
