Mice were infected with 500 T. b. brucei EATRO 110 parasites and the infection was allowed to progress for 24 hrs prior to initiation of treatment. Parasitemia was examined weekly and cures were determined as described in materials and methods.
Infected animals were dosed twice daily for 4 consecutive days. Pentamidine was administered once daily for 4 days to serve as positive control.
Cured animals are defined as those that remained parasite free >30 days after the start of the dosing period.
