Neural architecture. Excitatory afferent neurons 1, …, n (on the left) receive individual input currents I₁, …, I_n plus a common oscillatory drive i(t), which leads to a current-to-phase conversion: the stronger the current the earlier a neuron fires during an oscillation cycle. Afferents project with plastic weights w₁, …, w_n to one downstream neuron equipped with STDP.
